USM—98

All Natural Microbial Catalyst

 

 

USM--98 is composed of a blend of microbial enzymes and a specific catalyst that can be applied to poultry waste to reduce ammonia levels.  Reducing ammonia levels in poultry houses will result in numerous benefits including reduced odor.  As the odor is reduced the facility becomes a cleaner, healthier, and enhanced environment for poultry production.

 

Why does USM--98 work?

 

The reason USM--98 is effective is the unique catalyst that allows microorganisms to work in less-than-optimal conditions.  Microorganisms drive the chemical cycles of nitrogen and phosphorus, both of which are prevalent in animal wastes.  Nitrogen compounds such as ammonia are susceptible to being changed into other harmless nitrogen compounds when sufficient microorganisms are present along with an energy source.  In untreated situations two potential problems occur.  First, the number of microorganism colonies is limited.  Second, and most important, there is a lack of an energy source that would allow the colonies to grow.  

 

It is the specific catalyst in USM--98 that allows microorganisms to thrive in these environments where the waste load is heavy, oxygen availability may be limited, and the demand for nutrient cycling is high.

 

How should USM--98 be applied? 

 

USM--98 can be applied in numerous ways depending on the operation’s situation.  It is recommended that the facility be treated by spraying USM--98 and water over the area where the waste will be or is standing.  Application rates will be recommended based on the size of the poultry facility.  USM--98 can be applied at any point during the production process and will be effective for the entire flock.

 

Is USM--98 safe?

 

USM--98 is a 100% natural product that has no toxic or harmful characteristics. 

 

 

 

Results 

 

The results of USM--98 have been positive for our customers.  The improved environment provided for the poultry directly affects their survival and feed conversion rates.  This increased efficiency proves to be profitable.  Reducing the odor provides benefits for the area surrounding the operation as well as for the treated house.  Many of these benefits have been expressed verbally by our clients; however, the following monitored results show a reduction in Ammonia.

 

USM--98 Success

 

Two of our customers in North Carolina have been using USM--98 for 10 to 15 flocks. Both producers have moved from the bottom end of the settlement figured on feed conversion ratios to the top.  Since beginning treatment, they have both been in the top 5 for every flock treated with USM--98.
